Race It
If you want to go racing with an affordable, safe, reliable, fun-to-drive, easy-to-repair, production-based, rear-wheel-drive machine, the FR500S is the perfect car for you.
Legend has it that Mustangs have been racing since about a half-hour after the second Mustang was built. That may be a bit of a stretch, but Mustangs have been a force to be reckoned with since 1964. You can’t talk about the Sports Car Club of America’s B Production class in the mid-to-late 1960s without talking about the Shelby Mustang. You can’t talk about the SCCA’s Trans-Am series from 1966 to 1999 without talking about Mustangs. You can’t talk about the IMSA GTO class from the mid-‘80s through the mid-‘90s without talking about Mustangs. You can’t talk about the GS class of the current Grand-Am Continental Sports Car Challenge without talking about Mustangs.
Now, you can have something to talk about with a Mustang FR500S.
If you want to go racing with an affordable, safe, reliable, fun-to-drive, easy-to-repair, production-based, rear-wheel-drive machine, the FR500S is the perfect car for you. The opportunities range from mild to wild.
On the upper end, you can race in the series created for the FR500S, the Ford Racing Mustang Challenge. Sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, you’ll get to compete on some of America’s greatest racetracks with equally-prepared cars. You can’t get outspent, or out-engineered; the driver makes all the difference. Plus you get to race on the undercard with the Grand-Am’s Rolex Sports Car Series and the Continental Sports Car Challenge, sharing the paddock with some of America’s greatest racing teams and drivers.
If you would rather race on the amateur level than professional, the FR500S is eligible to race in either the Sports Car Club or America or the National Auto Sports Association, giving you literally hundreds of opportunities each year.
In addition, the Miller Park Racing Association at Miller Motorsports Park has a Mustang Challenge class that is very competitive.
